For Sustainable Agriculture
Ajit Foundation is dedicated to enhancing agricultural practices and supporting marginal farmers in adopting sustainable and climate-resilient methods. Through various pilot projects, we aim to explore different avenues in agriculture to generate income and improve livelihoods.
Organic Farming: Cultivating Sustainable Practices
In Korfale village, Barshi taluka of Solapur district, Ajit Foundation spearheaded an awareness program on organic farming. Utilizing a demo plot provided by a local farmer, we engaged 8 Women’s Groups comprising 6-10 marginal women farmers each. These groups were introduced to various organic farming techniques, including the use and preparation of organic pesticides and fertilizers such as jeevamrut and vermiculture.
Approximately 70 marginal women farmers actively participated in cultivating tur dal on the demo plot, with free seeds distributed to those most in need. The initiative yielded impressive results, with the tur yield and seed size surpassing expectations. Organically produced seeds were sold at reasonable rates, empowering women farmers economically. Additionally, participants gained valuable knowledge on organic farming practices and community farming concepts.

Ajit Foundation identified four farmers with access to ample water resources and provided them with banana saplings and technical guidance on banana plantation techniques. Collaborating with the Green Planet Company, we aimed to introduce innovative farming ideas and expand farmers’ horizons regarding cash crop cultivation. Through these initiatives, Ajit Foundation continues to empower farmers and promote sustainable agricultural practices. By harnessing the potential of organic farming and diversifying crop cultivation, we strive to create a more resilient and prosperous agricultural sector for marginal farmers.
