At Ajit Foundation, we are dedicated to promoting free, quality education for children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Our primary focus is on reintegrating out-of-school children into the mainstream education system, ensuring they have access to the opportunities they deserve. Through our Snehgram Residential School, located in the Korfale village of Solapur district, and Shrujanalay hostel facility in Talegaon, Pune district, we provide pre-primary and secondary education, along with accommodation, for children in need. These initiatives aim to not only educate but also provide a nurturing environment where students can thrive. We actively engage parents, communities, school officials, and government education departments to garner support for children’s education. By bridging the education gap and advocating for the importance of education, we strive to create a brighter future for every child we serve.
Join us in our mission to empower underprivileged children through education and unlock their full potential. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in their lives and build a more equitable society.
Democratic School
Snehgram serves as a refuge for children from socially, economically, and politically marginalized communities, including those affected by beggary, single parenthood, widows, incarceration, and adolescent motherhood. We also extend our support to economically disadvantaged families, including migrants like contract laborers, unskilled workers, construction laborers, daily wage earners, and domestic workers. Additionally, we prioritize children from politically marginalized groups such as Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Denotified Tribes. Most of the children we shelter come from the backward regions of Marathwada and the drought-prone areas of Solapur district, Maharashtra.
Srujanalaya embodies a democratic approach to hostel management, empowering students to oversee its operations. Decision-making is conducted democratically, with all major judgments subject to approval by the “Parliament” on a monthly basis. The hostel implements various innovative initiatives, including practical learning experiences, banking transactions, study committees, and simulated civic processes like mayoral elections and city council sessions. Additionally, children participate in real-life scenarios such as shopping excursions and engage in dialogue sessions at the “Vachan Katta” and “Srijan Katta.” These initiatives aim to identify and nurture the latent talents and energies of each child, fostering a conducive environment for holistic knowledge creation and personal growth.

Empowering Education at The Democratic School
At Srujanalay, children's health is a top priority, with a focus on providing nutritious meals and monitoring their mental and physical well-being. We instill democratic values through initiatives like the Children’s Parliament, where students learn about governance and problem-solving, empowering them to make crucial decisions. The Student’s Council, our governing body, ensures that all decisions affecting the school's day-to-day operations are made collectively.
Fostering Empathy and Community
Our focus on fostering empathy and community extends beyond the classroom. Exposure visits to local markets and banks allow students to learn about real-world transactions and budgeting, enhancing their practical knowledge and skills. Initiatives like Srujan Kart and kitchen gardening provide hands-on learning opportunities, empowering children to take ownership of their education and develop essential life skills.
Lab On Bike Program
The STEM Lab on a Bike (SLoB) program revolutionizes science education by bringing hands-on learning directly to students. This innovative initiative involves a mobile science lab, containing all the necessary apparatus for conducting science experiments, transported on a bike to various schools.
Initiated in 2022, the SLoB program has become an invaluable resource for students, providing them with the opportunity to actively engage in scientific exploration. Under the guidance of an instructor, students not only observe science experiments but also handle the apparatus themselves, gaining practical experience and broadening their perspective on scientific concepts.
Currently, the SLoB program is making a difference in Zhilla Parishad Schools located in Sawantwadi, Mahagaon, Korfale, and Kavhe villages in Barshi taluka of Solapur district, as well as schools in Maval taluka of Pune district. By bringing science education directly to students’ doorsteps, the SLoB program is making learning more accessible and engaging for students across different regions.
